Jenkins submits grant to publish two Rosewood history books for primary and secondary students on a national level.

August 17, 2004:
Rosewood historic marker stolen from original erecting location, SR 24 and taken to Cedar Key dumping it on an innocent man’s property. Was it vandalism or a prank? Has anyone been arrested? If no arrest is made, the plot is the same today, October 25, 2004, as it was in 1923, when the mob invaded Rosewood and burned down the town.

July 23, 2004:
Rosewood 21st Family Reunion convenes in St. Petersburg, FL, hosted by Yvonne Doctor.

June 10, 2004:
Rosewood descendants, Marie Ames of Riviera Beach and Lizzie Jenkins of Archer, appeared on a panel for Palm Beach School District’s African American Studies Summit Institute.

May 27, 2004:
Attempt to steal Rosewood historic marker failed.

May 04, 2004:
Governor Bush acknowledged the importance of preserving Rosewood history coming to Rosewood, Florida and dedicating the Rosewood Historic Marker at the request of Rosewood descendant and author, Lizzie Jenkins. Jenkins had the distinct honor of introducing him in praise for humanity.

February 23, 2004:
First Lady Laura Bush sent letter of support in honor of Rosewood First Annual Peace and Healing Ceremony. Anne Heiligenstein, her Director of Projects and Policy reminded me of the importance of her “Preserve America” initiative.

Governor Jeb Bush sent letter of Proclamation in honor of Rosewood First Annual Peace and Healing Ceremony.

The Real Rosewood Foundation sponsored a First Annual Peace and Healing Ceremony commemorating eighty-one years of silent injustices. Many family members attended the commemoration returning to Rosewood, some of them, for the first time.

Former Senator Daryl L. Jones sent letter of support in honor of Rosewood First Annual Peace and Healing Ceremony. He sponsored and passed the Rosewood Bill while serving in the Florida Legislature.

October 31, 2003:
Jenkins sought help from Governor Jeb Bush to preserve Rosewood’s history. She desperately needed his help for a smooth transition to accomplish her goals. He stepped and did what he needed to do make history happen. I’m ever grateful for his humanitarian act of support.
